PRIVACY NOTICE
YOUR FINANCIAL PRIVACY RIGHTS

I. PRIVACY OVERVIEW

The Citizens Bank (TCB) recognizes the importance of respecting the privacy of our customers. We want to assure you that any information that TCB gathers will be used for its own business needs. We are committed to taking every reasonable precaution to protect and safeguard your privacy.

TCB does not knowingly market products to children under the age of 18; nor do we solicit personal information from children.

TCB also realizes the importance of security on the Internet. We have implemented Internet security standards and procedures to protect against unauthorized disclosure of information or access to information about you from our website. In addition, we will limit employee access to personally identifiable information to those employees who have a business purpose for having access to such information.

This privacy notice applies to all of our consumer customers having a continuing relationship.

II. PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED

TCB will collect personal information in three ways:

  • Information received from you on applications and forms.
  • Information about your transactions with others and us.
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.

TCB's principal business is to offer financial services such as checking, savings, CD's, IRA's, safe deposit boxes, check cards, and various types of loans, including home mortgage brokerage. In order to provide you service, we may ask you to provide us with some or all of the following information, depending on the type of product or service:

  • Name
  • Mailing and physical address
  • E-mail address
  • Social security number
  • Number of dependents and birth dates
  • Occupation
  • Income
  • Assets and Liabilities
  • Home and business phone numbers
  • Whether you have a checking and savings account, and
  • Whether you own or rent your residence.

III. CUSTOMER BENEFITS

We may request additional financial information in order to provide you credit. In addition, we may request information that helps us keep your account secure. We use the information you give us to optimize the financial services we offer, evaluate your creditworthiness and prevent fraud. We will not be able to process your application if you do not provide us with the information requested on the application or form.

As a part of an application for credit or the opening of an account, you expressly authorize us to contact a credit bureau or other consumer reporting agency, such as ChexSystems or Tele-Check, for our use in evaluating your application and subsequently in connection with our periodic review of your account relationship(s) with us, a requested change to your account(s) or a change in your credit line or renewal of your account. These are tools we use to protect you from fraudulent conduct.

IV. COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE CITIZENS BANK

Upon opening an account, we track your transactions including where and how you access and use the account in order to prepare your monthly statement and to protect against fraudulent use of the account. This allows us to provide consistent quality service. We continually strive to maintain complete and accurate information about your accounts. Should you ever believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you please notify us as soon as possible and we will investigate your concerns.

V. HOW TCB USES PERSONAL INFORMATION


A. To Evaluate Your Request
TCB uses your personal information to evaluate your request to open an account or to determine whether to issue credit. Thereafter, we use the information to provide our customers with the highest level of service and protect our customers from fraudulent use of their account. In certain circumstances, we may disclose nonpublic personal information that we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name or address, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf, or to other financial institutions with whom we have a joint marketing agreement, as permitted by law. They are required by our contract to adhere to strict standards of information security, and are prohibited from using the information in any way other than intended.

B. Lawful Request by a Court, Government or Regulatory Agency
We will disclose your personal information in response to a lawful request issued by a court, government agency, or regulatory authority with jurisdiction to make this request.

C. Use of Credit Bureaus or Consumer Reporting Agencies
We share our experience with you with the credit bureaus or other consumer reporting agencies. Our reporting is governed by Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to make sure that your credit bureau reports are correct and accurate. We will respond in a timely manner to any questions from you or requests to correct inaccurate information.

VI. LIMITATIONS


A. Employee Access
Each TCB employee is required to follow our Company's Code of Conduct, which states that all customer information is considered private and privileged and is to be used solely for the purpose of providing you with the finest service available.

B. Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures
TCB is committed to the security of your financial and personal information. All of your operation and data processing systems are in a secure environment that protects your account information from being accessed by third parties. We maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security standards. Standard Internet e-mail is not a secure way to send personal information. TCB's website and Internet Banking offer secure messaging with encryption.
